Bodacious Big Heads

As we near the end of the fall seasons and senior athletes finish out their final game or competition, family and friends rally together to support their soon-to-be-grad. Besides posters and banners, one unique way to encourage these students are with Big Heads, the print shop created versions of Fatheads. Big Heads are enlarged cutouts of a person’s face or “head”, usually printed on thick poster board paper that can withstand lots of movement, but light enough to easily move around. So, if you so desired one of these Big Heads to show your love for someone you’re proud of, what are the things you would expect?

When sending a photo to be scaled into a Big Head, it is important that a high-quality photo is chosen. An HD photo that was taken from a Canon with high focus and is clearly lit will look much better once it is scaled and blown up into photo shop. If a lower quality photo at nighttime or in the dark were to be blown up, it would appear pixelated or over-saturated if the editor attempted to lighten the skin. In addition, it is easier to use photos that are specifically from the chest up or simply the neck up in order to avoid lowering the quality of the photo by zooming in or cropping the image.

After you have your picture to be printed, what can you expect from the product? Well, the Big Heads are printed on heavy weight enhanced matte poster board. The size they are most effectively printed are 22” by 28” boards, and can be large or small to fit this size. When these Big Heads are printed, they are not mounted on anything. There is no foam backing or wooden rods for the heads to be mounted on, but with the support from those who would invest in our services, we can expand our materials to include them. Regardless, the quality of the print itself on the enhanced matte is spectacularly clean and high quality.
