It's Fall Y'all

It’s fall y’all! Cue all of the cute fall family pictures. Family photos will be cherished forever. Whether the family photo will be hung above the mantle or sent as a holiday card, you want your family to look their best. Here are some tips to help you pick out the perfect outfits for a fall family photo shoot:

  • Plan Your Outfits in Advance: The more time you give yourself to plan, the less you will be stressed. It also won’t hurt to have options especially when you have little ones.

  • Choose Coordinating Colors: Picking out colors can be tricky. Find colors that coordinate well. You can find a good look without wearing matching outfits. You don't want to seem overly-matching. Pick two main colors and add softer tones to accent the color scheme.

  • Location: When trying to pick out outfits, keep your location in mind. Pick out colors that will complement your background. Some good locations for fall photos are in a cornfield, pumpkin patch, wooded area, or in a grassy field.

  • Pick Out Accessories: Fall outfits are all about layering. Accessories are great style pieces because they can add texture to your photos. You can add them to individual photos or tie them into other family members' outfits. For example, if someone is wearing a plaid flannel, then another person could wear a plaid hat. Good fall accessories are scarves, hats, boots, and belts.

  • Color Scheme Ideas: Brown and Maroon, Denim with Red and Yellow, Burnt Orange and Red, and Navy with Tan and Cream.

Now that you are prepared for your family photos it’s time to get them taken. When you get your photos taken, bring props. Some good props that will look good for fall pictures are pumpkins, big blankets, or if you’re around trees you can sit on the leaves or throw them up in the air. Those always make for cute pictures.
