What the Cell?!!
What's up with these crazy iPhone cameras? Is mine good? What the heck is going on here?! I feel like I know nothing about these crazy things ... ugh.
Have you ever considered how much technology has evolved with regards to cell phone cameras? It's kind of insane just how much it actually has and all the bells a whistles these little gems provide us that we take for granted. We have scoured the internet for information and found some pretty interesting facts on iPhones and the cameras attached to them. We are shocked by what we found out ...
"Project Purple", a team in 2004 comprised of approximately 1,000 secret cell phone creators began making way for the newest trend to hit the market. Introducing the infinitely famous "iPhone" which today is a common pocket accessory. Today, over 1 billion iPhones have been sold and believe me ... they're just getting started.
Let's look back to when this all began.
Hitting the charts as the game changer for cell phone abilities in 2007, the iPhone 1st generation camera was about as basic as you get. Maxing out at a whopping 2 megapixels, this old school road paver had no flash and no video recording capabilities, but really turned some heads when it came to using your phone as a capturing device. This concept was still relatively "new" and iPhone really turned up their game when they launched this concept with the highest quality camera ... at the time.
Next we meet the iPhone 3 which was actually a pretty big leap from it's big sister - the first gen - making a small step from 2 to 3 megapixel, but now including deluxe features such as autofocus and the ability to record video at 30 fps. Now we're cooking.
Hosting a whopping 8 megapixels, iPhone 4 please makes its way to center stage. LED flash, 2.4 aperture lens, 30 fps camera and the ever magical 35mm focus. This my friends, is what has officially started the beginning of what would be known as the iPhone revolution. This shiny little device turned the heads of nearly every single cell phone company in the world as they too wanted a little piece of the pie.
Now, if we are going to be honest here ... iPhone 5 received a lot of criticism from consumers for being no different from the iPhone 4 which wasn't necessarily wrong. The iPhone 5 had a 8 megapixel, dual led flash, 2.2 aperture lens, 29mm focus, but now included 120 fps camera. Apple got tired of hearing the complaints and came back with a vengeance in the iPhone 6s plus.
Welcome 6S Plus - this iPhone was astonishing with a 12 megapixel, dual led flash, 2.2 aperture lens, 31mm focus and a 240 fps, but somehow even after all that Apple outdid themselves again with the iPhone 7 plus which now came with 12.3 megapixels, 2.8 aperture lens, quad led flash, 29mm focus and 320 fps camera. A HUGE highlight that our current iPhone obsession now has is Portrait Mode which creates stunning depth behind your subject to give you the real "feeling" that only DSLR's provide.
Apple began what would now be considered a standard for "convenient" photography. The growth of their technology is nothing short of impressive as they continue to wow their consumers with products that make taking and editing pictures so effortless. Yes, this article in particular highlights iPhone products, but really there are a lot of amazing devices out there with amazing picture taking potential. Let's be honest ... our timeline of amazing technology continues to "wow" us as each new generation of phone is developed.
